Characterization of the gut microbiota in diabetes mellitus II patients with adequate and inadequate metabolic control

Angie Joyce Hamasaki-Matos et al.

Summary: The study found that patients with poorly controlled T2DM tended to have lower fiber intake. However, the composition of gut microbiota was similar between patients with adequate and inadequate metabolic control, with differences in population of bacteria identified but not statistically significant.

Gut microbiome-A potential mediator of pathogenesis in heart failure and its comorbidities: State-of-the-art review

Petra Mamic et al.

Summary: The gut microbiome plays a crucial role in the development and progression of heart failure, immune-mediated cardiomyopathies, response to cardiovascular drugs, and HF-related comorbidities. Gut microbial metabolites are mechanistically linked to HF pathogenesis and could serve as potential therapeutic targets for HF. Targeting the gut microbiome in HF is still in its early stages and requires further preclinical and clinical evidence.

Gut Microbiota and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Severity in Type 2 Diabetes Patients

Summary: This study found a positive correlation between the abundance of Firmicutes phylum and the severity of NAFLD in T2D patients. The gut microbiota, specifically Firmicutes, could potentially serve as a predictor for NAFLD severity in T2D patients.
