Blister formation in He-H co-implanted InP: A comprehensive atomistic study

N. Daghbouj et al.

Summary: Efficient blistering in He-H-ion co-implanted and annealed InP reaches its peak and disappears within a narrow range of ion fluence ratio, demonstrating different effects on blister formation between low and high fluence ratios. The presence of large clusters inhibits He diffusion to small clusters, impacting the formation of blisters.

Formation of nano-twinned 3C-SiC grains in Fe-implanted 6H-SiC after 1500-°C annealing

Zheng Han et al.

Summary: A nano-twinned microstructure was discovered in amorphous SiC after high-temperature annealing, with visible 3C-SiC grains and stacking faults. The formation mechanisms of the nano-twinned structure are related to the disorder of Si atoms, and the thickness of the twinned structure increases with annealing temperature. This demonstrates that the nano-twinned structure can absorb lattice defects and improve the radiation tolerance of SiC.

Selective Laser Melting of 316L Austenitic Stainless Steel: Detailed Process Understanding Using Multiphysics Simulation and Experimentation

Peyman Ansari et al.

Summary: This study proposes a multiphysics numerical model to explore factors affecting parts production in the SLM process and their mathematical relationships, using stainless steel 316L powder. The effect of laser power and laser spot diameter on melt-pool temperature was studied, and mathematical expressions were obtained to relate process parameters to temperature levels. The study validates the model through the production of test samples using simulated parameters, showing acceptable microstructures for suitable parameter sets.

Fullerene irradiation leading to track formation enclosing nitrogen bubbles in GaN material

J. G. Mattei et al.

Summary: Gallium nitride was irradiated with fullerene projectiles above the electronic stopping power threshold, leading to ion track formation. Using Transmission Electron Microscopy, researchers identified structural and chemical changes induced by fullerene irradiation, including local amorphization inside the ion tracks and local stress in the wurtzite structure surrounding the tracks. STEM Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy showed that Ga/N stoichiometry remained in the track core, with oxidation detected at the surface, and nitrogen bubbles were found encapsulated inside the ion tracks.
