Synthesis of sodium lignosulfonate-guar gum composite hydrogel for the removal of Cu2+ and Co2+

Xin Li et al.

Summary: A composite material was prepared for adsorbing metal ions with abundant active functional groups and porous structure. The optimized product showed maximum ion adsorption capacities of 709 mg g(-1) for Cu2+ and 601 mg g(-1) for Co2+. XPS results confirmed successful adsorption of Cu2+ and Co2+, and surface complexation was proposed as the main mechanism. Recycling research demonstrated good chemical stability of the adsorbent.

Chemical precipitation enabled UF and MF filtration for lead removal

Zitong Xu et al.

Summary: The study investigated the removal of Pb2+ ions by chemical precipitation enabled membrane filtration (CPEMF) using microfiltration (MF) and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes. Optimal conditions of 1 mM DIC and pH 8.5 were found to bring the permeate lead level below the drinking water standard, demonstrating the effectiveness of CPEMF in removing lead ions from water.
