Investigation on Flexural Behavior of Geopolymer-Based Carbon Textile/Basalt Fiber Hybrid Composite

Chi Hiep Le et al.

Summary: Experimental research on the mechanical properties of hybrid composite thin-plates composed of short basalt fibers (CBFs) and carbon textile-reinforced geomortar was conducted. The findings showed that adding CBFs with lengths of 12 mm and 24 mm improved both static and dynamic flexural strength in geomortar, but did not have a positive effect on the failure mode of the specimens. The study also highlighted the importance of the anchoring capacity of textile layers in geomortar on specimen strength, as revealed by the Charpy impact test results.

From casting to 3D printing geopolymers: A proof of concept

Vera Voney et al.

Summary: This paper aims to define a mix design strategy for implementing geopolymer in powder bed 3D printing. Through experiments, it was shown that mastering the spreading of the liquid into the powder bed is crucial for the reaction to take place where needed. The relationship between compressive strength of printed geopolymer and powder bed saturation was analyzed, with SEM/EDX analysis confirming the formation of geopolymer in the printed material.

Mechanical and fracture properties of geopolymer concrete with basalt fiber using digital image correlation

Yamin Wang et al.

Summary: This study investigated the mechanical and fracture properties of basalt fiber reinforced fly ash geopolymer concrete with different fiber lengths, and found that the 6 mm fiber reinforced concrete exhibited the best performance. Before reaching the 80% peak load level, a decrease in crack length and an improvement in relative COD increment were observed in the basalt fiber reinforced concrete.

Rheological characterization of 3D printable geopolymers

Navid Ranjbar et al.

Summary: This study presents a two-step approach for quantifying concrete printability through dynamic mode rheological measurements: modeling shearing history during extrusion and monitoring the hardening evolution of deposited material. By applying this method, the static yield stress at the origin can be quantified to determine the material printability, ensuring shape stability of the printed structure.

Printing Parameter Requirements for 3D Printable Geopolymer Materials Prepared from Industrial Side Streams

Qaisar Munir et al.

Summary: This investigation focused on studying the printing parameter requirements for sustainable 3D printable geopolymer materials using side streams of industries as raw materials. Results showed that heating significantly improved buildability and setting of the material, while an increase in reactive recyclable material content led to decreased strength and workability. Furthermore, longer curing time increased compressive strength but decreased flexural strength, and the number of layers in test samples affected their strength performance.
