Evaluation and design methods for high-efficiency charring composite under complex coupling mechanisms in both material and boundary layer

Weijie Li et al.

Summary: With the development of hypersonic vehicles, a thermal/fluid/chemical/ablation coupling model is established to evaluate the material and chemical responses of charring composites under severe aerothermodynamic heating. The key factor influencing thermal protection performance (fiber volume fraction) is analyzed to design a gradient distribution for charring composites, which controls temperature distribution and surface ablation recession effectively. Research provides guidance for quantitative and efficient design of thermal protection using charring composites in reentry vehicles.

Experimental investigation and multi-level modeling of the effective thermal conductivity of hybrid micro-fiber reinforced cementitious composites at elevated temperatures

Tong Zhang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the thermal conductivity of fiber reinforced composites (FRCs) at elevated temperatures through experiments and simulations, revealing the influence of interfacial thermal resistance and the ratio of fiber-to-matrix thermal conductivity on the overall thermal conductivity. A multi-level model is developed to accurately predict the thermal conductivity of FRCs, guiding material design and improving the fire resistance of engineering structures.

Mixed convective nanofluid flow over a non linearly stretched Riga plate

Hanumesh Vaidya et al.

Summary: This article focuses on the heat and mass transfer characteristics of mixed convective flow of an electrically conducting nanofluid past a slender plate, considering viscous dissipation and chemical reaction. The analysis involves zero nanoparticle mass flux, convective boundary conditions, and thermophoretic and Brownian aspects for nanoliquid using Buongiorno's relations. The study uses similarity quantities to obtain dimensionless flow field equations and solves them analytically through the optimal homotopy analysis method (OHAM). The results show that higher values of the modified Hartmann number increase the velocity profile while suppressing the temperature profile, and the accuracy of contemporary numerical simulations validates the novelty of the investigation.

Flow of Brinkman Fluid with Heat Generation and Chemical Reaction

M. Ramzan et al.

Summary: The study discusses unsteady magnetohydrodynamics flow of fractionalized Brinkman-type fluid over a vertical plate, considering additional effects such as heat generation/absorption and chemical reaction. The model is solved using the Caputo fractional derivative and governing dimensionless equations for velocity, concentration, and temperature profiles are solved using the Laplace transform method. Different parameters like fractional parameter, heat generation/absorption Q, chemical reaction R, and magnetic parameter M are analyzed through numerous graphs, showing the effects on the fluid velocity profile.
