Deep learning for automated glaucomatous optic neuropathy detection from ultra-widefield fundus images

Summary: A deep learning system was developed for automated detection of glaucomatous optic neuropathy (GON) using ultra-widefield fundus images. The system achieved high AUCs, sensitivities, and specificities in four independent data sets, and showed comparable performance to an experienced ophthalmologist in a specific data set from Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center.
