Gestational Women's Perceptions About the Harms of Cigarette and E-Cigarette Use During Pregnancy

Page D. Dobbs et al.

Summary: The study found that pregnant women generally believed that maternal smoking posed a greater risk to infant health compared to e-cigarette use, and participants who planned to be pregnant were more likely to endorse the belief that smoking could cause miscarriage or high blood pressure in a child. Healthcare providers were more likely to ask, advise against, and discuss the health effects of smoking cigarettes with pregnant women than e-cigarettes.
