Low Concentrations for Significant Improvements in Thermal and Thermomechanical Properties of Poly(Lactic Acid)-Keratin Biocomposites Obtained by Extrusion and 3D Printing

C. G. Flores-Hernandez et al.

Summary: Polymer composites of polylactic acid (PLA) reinforced with chicken feather rachis were successfully developed by extrusion and additive manufacturing. The addition of rachis significantly improved the thermomechanical properties of the composites, and the fracture surface of the 3D printed composites showed distinct characteristics depending on the type and concentration of reinforcement used. Furthermore, the thermal conductivity of the composites was altered with the addition of keratin.

Sound Absorption of Microperforated Panel Made from Coconut Fiber and Polylactic Acid Composite

Desmond Daniel Chin Vui Sheng et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the sound absorption performance of a microperforated panel made from coconut fiber and polylactic acid composite, known as biocomposite microperforated panel (BMPP). It compares the sound absorption performance between BMPP and steel MPP and finds that the different composition of the BMPP leads to different sound absorption performance.

Study of Acoustic Properties of Chicken Feather Fibre (CFF) and Its Hybrid Composites

K. Saravanan et al.

Summary: This study discusses the effects of molding temperature, pressure, and time on the acoustic properties of compression molded CFF and its hybrid composites. Findings indicate that temperature and pressure have a significant impact on the NRC value, and as the fiber loading of CFF increases, the NRC value also rises.
