Genetic diversity and prevalence of Atypical Porcine Pestivirus in the Midwest of US swine herds during 2016-2018

Fangfeng Yuan et al.

Summary: APPV is a highly divergent pestivirus widely distributed around the world, known to cause congenital tremors in piglets. This study revealed a 19.0% prevalence of APPV in US swine herds with significant sequence diversity. The prevalence varied among different US regions, with Minnesota having the highest prevalence at 37.35%, followed by Illinois, Iowa, and Kansas.
