Participatory health research with migrants: Opportunities, challenges, and way forwards

Maria Roura et al.

Summary: This paper highlights the importance of engaging migrants in research agenda, health intervention design, identification of health-protective factors, and development of indicators to monitor progress. It also addresses challenges such as inadequate representation structures, local tensions, and operational barriers in conducting participatory health research with migrants. It emphasizes the need to determine the optimal level and type of participation in each research context to empower migrants and suggests the development of tools and strategies for managing inter-stakeholder discrepancies and knowledge translation gaps.
