Lysosomal SLC46A3 modulates hepatic cytosolic copper homeostasis

Jung-Hwan Kim et al.

Summary: The study found that the lysosomal copper transporter SLC46A3 plays a key role in hepatic lipid accumulation in mice, potentially through effects on mitochondrial function. The expression of SLC46A3 leads to dysregulation of intracellular copper levels, resulting in abnormal mitochondrial function. These findings shed light on the mechanism linking hepatic lipid accumulation to TCDD exposure.
