One-dimensional stress-driven nonlocal integral model with bi-Helmholtz kernel: Close form solution and consistent size effect

Pei-Liang Bian et al.

Summary: The stress-driven nonlocal integral model with bi-Helmholtz kernel was applied to investigate the elastostatic tensile and free vibration analysis of microbars. The relationship between nonlocal stress and strain was expressed as a first type of Fredholm integral equation and transformed into a first type of Volterra integral equation. The numerical results showed that the nonlocal microbar model can be degraded to a local bar model when the nonlocal parameters approach 0, and consistent toughening response can be obtained for different boundary and loading conditions.
