A new method for one-step synthesis of oxazolo [3,2-c] pyrimidine core and its derivatives has been developed in inexpensive and green bio-based solvent lactic acid without any additional catalysts. Density functional theory calculations located the reaction pathway and identified the intermolecular nucleophilic addition step to be the rate-limiting step, resulting in the synthesis of twenty new oxazolo [3,2-c] pyrimidine derivatives.
