Comparison of surgical outcomes among different methods of esophagojejunostomy in laparoscopic total gastrectomy for clinical stage I proximal gastric cancer: results of a single-arm multicenter phase II clinical trial in Korea, KLASS 03

Han-Kwang Yang et al.

Summary: This single-arm multicenter phase II clinical trial in Korea evaluated the safety and feasibility of laparoscopic total gastrectomy for clinical stage I proximal gastric cancer, with a focus on different methods of esophagojejunostomy. The study found that extracorporeal circular stapling and intracorporeal linear stapling were safe and feasible in laparoscopic total gastrectomy, but intracorporeal circular stapling increased the risk of EJ stenosis.

Open versus minimally invasive total gastrectomy after neoadjuvant chemotherapy: results of a European randomized trial

Nicole van der Wielen et al.

Summary: A randomized trial conducted in European hospitals found that minimally invasive total gastrectomy after neoadjuvant therapy is not inferior to open total gastrectomy in terms of oncological quality of resection in Western patients with resectable gastric cancer. Furthermore, there were no differences in postoperative complications and recovery between the two surgical approaches.
