Molecule-assisted modulation of the high-valence Co3+ in 3D honeycomb-like CoxSy networks for high-performance solid-state asymmetric supercapacitors

Haiyan Wang et al.

Summary: Modulating the oxidation states of transition metal species to achieve more active sites in electrode materials has shown promising results in this research. A unique 3D honeycomb-like cobalt sulfide network with increased high-valence Co3+ ratio was prepared using a simple self-templating strategy, leading to excellent performance including high specific capacity and cycling stability. The synergetic effect of the tailored high-valence Co3+ with the 3D network structure contributed to the high energy density and robust cycling stability observed in the solid-state asymmetric supercapacitor constructed based on the electrodes.
