Generalized dispersive mode decomposition: Algorithm and applications

Summary: A generalized dispersive mode decomposition (GDMD) method is proposed in this paper to accurately estimate GDs and fully separate overlapped modes of dispersive signals. By formulating the mode decomposition issue as an optimal dispersion compensation problem based on a defined model, the dispersion effects of all the modes can be fully eliminated, resulting in a high-quality TF distribution.

Summary: A two-level adaptive chirp mode decomposition (ACMD) approach is developed in this paper for wheel flat detection on railway vehicles under variable-speed conditions. Both dynamics simulation and experiment results indicate that the proposed approach can accurately detect small-sized wheel flats under strong interferences.

An iteration procedure is introduced to address the blurry time frequency representation problem of TSST, providing algorithmic support for signal reconstructions. Results confirm that the proposed method has better performance in dealing with impulsive-like signals compared to other TFA methods.
