Blood biomarkers for neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy in the presence and absence of sentinel events

Eric K. Broni et al.

Summary: The study compared neonates with HIE who had sentinel events with those who did not, analyzing blood samples taken during the first 3 days of life. Differences in VEGF and IL-10 serum concentrations were found between the two groups, indicating a potential link to chronic hypoxia or a remote event in cases with no sentinel event.
