Photocatalytic degradation of bisphenol A using titanium dioxide@nanodiamond composites under UV light illumination

Y. M. Hunge et al.

Summary: Organic impurities such as dyes, acids, and alcohols are discharged into potable water sources, posing a global environmental challenge. Conventional methods for removing these pollutants are inefficient, leading to the exploration of advanced oxidation processes like photocatalysis. The study demonstrates that TiO2@nanodiamond composites show efficient degradation of organic pollutants under UV light, offering a promising solution for wastewater treatment.

Surface modification of BiOBr/TiO2 by reduced AgBr for solar-driven PAHs degradation: Mechanism insight and application assessment

Xianbo Sun et al.

Summary: The novel solar active AgBr/BiOBr/TiO2 catalyst synthesized in this study exhibited enhanced performance in solar-driven water remediation, with improved light absorption, charge carrier migration, and light utilization efficiency. The material showed significantly higher activity compared to pure TiO2 and BiOBr, making it a promising candidate for cost-effective photocatalytic remediation of persistent organic contaminants under solar light.

Transformation kinetics and pathways of sulfamonomethoxine by UV/H2O2 in swine wastewater

Yejin Li et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the transformation kinetics and pathways of Sulfamonomethoxine (SMM) by UV/H2O2 in swine wastewater. The degradation of SMM in real wastewater was found to be lower than in synthetic wastewater due to the presence of conventional contaminants. Different factors, such as H2O2 dosage, pH conditions, and the presence of carbonate and nitrate, were found to influence the degradation of SMM in the UV/H2O2 system.

Double photoelectron-transfer mechanism in Ag AgCl/WO3/g-C3N4 photocatalyst with enhanced visible-light photocatalytic activity for trimethoprim degradation

Gongduan Fan et al.

Summary: Antibiotic contamination is a growing concern, leading to increased scrutiny on solutions like the AgAgCl/WO3/g-C3N4 (AWC) nanocomposites for trimethoprim degradation. Experimental results showed high efficiency with 99.9% of TMP degraded within 60 min using AWC at 0.5 g/L concentration. The proposed double photoelectron-transfer mechanism and identification of degradation pathways through theoretical calculations and experiments further support AWC as a promising photocatalyst for removing TMP from aquatic environments.
