The step towards environmental mitigation in Pakistan: do transportation services, urbanization, and financial development matter?

Danish Iqbal Godil et al.

Summary: The study found that transportation services and financial development were negatively associated with ecological footprints in Pakistan in most cases, while urban population growth was positively associated. The validity of the EKC hypothesis in the context of Pakistan was also confirmed. Policymakers are encouraged to promote investment in eco-friendly projects, reduce dependence on fossil fuels, and encourage the use of energy-efficient appliances by urban residents.

Environmental degradation & role of financialisation, economic development, industrialisation and trade liberalisation

Muhammad Ali Nasir et al.

Summary: The study investigates the determinants of environmental degradation in Australia through a comprehensive framework of EKC and STIRPAT, analyzing the impacts of multiple factors of socioeconomic development on CO2 emissions. Short-term bidirectional causality between economic growth, energy consumption, industrialization, and stock market development with carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions is found. However, long-term positive impacts of financial development, energy consumption, and trade openness on CO2 emissions are also observed, while industrialization is not found to significantly affect CO2 emissions.

Does green investment, financial development and natural resources rent limit carbon emissions? A provincial panel analysis of China

Yijuan Shen et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of natural resources rent, green investment, financial development, and energy consumption on carbon emissions in China. Results show that energy consumption and financial development have a positive impact on carbon emissions, while green investment is negatively correlated and natural resources rent is positively associated with carbon emissions. Recommendations include strengthening natural resource tax laws and promoting green investment and environmental policies to control carbon emissions.
