CD4+ and CD8+ cytotoxic Tlymphocytes may induce mesenchymal cell apoptosis in IgG4-related disease

Cory A. Perugino et al.

Summary: In IgG(4)-related disease, CD4(+)CTLs and CD8(+)CTLs may induce apoptotic cell death in tissues by preferentially targeting nonendothelial, nonimmune cells of mesenchymal origin.

Summary: Castleman disease is a rare hematologic condition involving lymphadenopathy and clinical abnormalities, classified into UCD and MCD; MCD is further divided based on etiological driver; FDG-PET/CT plays an important role in differential diagnosis and monitoring treatment responses.

Peripheral TIGIT plus T Follicular Helper Cells That Produce High Levels of Interleukin-21 via OX40 Represent Disease Activity in IgG4-Related Disease

Mitsuhiro Akiyama et al.

Summary: The study investigated the role of TIGIT expression in detecting high IL-21-producing peripheral Tfh populations and their association with disease activity in IgG4-RD. It was found that OX40 signal was associated with high IL-21 production in TIGIT+ Tfh cells, and the increase in peripheral TIGIT+ Tfh cells reflected disease activity in IgG4-RD, which could be corrected by glucocorticoid treatment.

Summary: This study identified that patients with IgG4-related disease and lymphadenopathy exhibit high disease activity, eosinophilia, and a higher likelihood of disease relapse. Eotaxin-3 was identified as a potential serum biomarker for this phenotype.
