Vasopressors independently associated with mortality in acute myocardial infarction and cardiogenic shock

Mir B. Basir et al.

Summary: Increasing vasopressor requirement is associated with increased mortality in AMICS independent of underlying CPO. Methods to decrease the need for vasopressors may enhance survival in AMICS.

Epidemiology of cardiogenic shock and cardiac arrest complicating non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction: 18-year US study

Saraschandra Vallabhajosyula et al.

Summary: The study found that the combination of cardiogenic shock and cardiac arrest has a significant impact on patients with non-ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), leading to higher in-hospital mortality and rates of acute non-cardiac organ failure.

Combined use of venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and intra-aortic balloon pump after cardiac arrest

Norihiro Kuroki et al.

Summary: The study revealed that the combined use of VA-ECMO and IABP after ROSC is associated with better neurological outcomes, particularly in cases of complicated ACS.

Ten-year trends, predictors and outcomes of mechanical circulatory support in percutaneous coronary intervention for acute myocardial infarction with cardiogenic shock

Saraschandra Vallabhajosyula et al.

Summary: This study aimed to assess the use, temporal trends, and outcomes of percutaneous MCS-assisted early PCI in AMI-CS. MCS-assisted PCI identified a sicker AMI-CS cohort, with a decrease in IABP and an increase in pLVAD/ECMO from 2009 to 2014. MCS use was independently predicted by younger age, male sex, lower comorbidity, and cardiac arrest, and was predictive of higher in-hospital mortality and greater resource utilisation.
