Microstructural modification of hollow TiO2 nanospheres and their photocatalytic performance

Junlei Wang et al.

Summary: The microstructure of photocatalysts, such as hollow TiO2 spheres synthesized using RF polymer resin, plays a vital role in enhancing photocatalytic performance. Adjusting the concentration of ammonia during synthesis affects the micromorphology and photocatalytic properties of the TiO2 spheres. The high conductivity and surface area of the hollow TiO2 spheres contribute to their efficient photocatalytic performance in phenol decomposition.

Preparation and visible-light photocatalytic activity of ag-loaded TiO2@Y2O3 hollow microspheres with double-shell structure

Xueliang Jiang et al.

Summary: Ag-loaded double-shell TiO2@Y2O3 hollow microspheres were prepared by sol-gel method and high-temperature calcinations reduction, showing regular morphology and distinct double-shell hollow structure. The photocatalytic activities of the hollow microspheres significantly improved after the load of Ag, with Ag located between the two shells enhancing their photocatalytic activity more effectively.

Acceleration of the photocatalytic degradation of organics by in-situ removal of the products of degradation

Siwada Deepracha et al.

Summary: The photocatalytic degradation of sulphur-containing organics in water can be significantly accelerated by in-situ removal of sulphur oxide species formed during dye degradation. The presence of alkaline earth cations like Ca2+, Sr2+, and Ba2+ can greatly enhance the degradation of sulphur-containing organics such as methylene blue and acid yellow 42.

Titanium dioxide supported on HZSM-5 for acid red 1 photocatalytic degradation

Zhao Lv et al.

Summary: TiO2 nano-crystals were synthesized on HZSM-5 zeolite to facilitate photocatalyst-water separation. The distinct boundaries of TiO2 layer and zeolite demonstrated strong combination. The supported TOHZ photocatalyst showed promising activity on Acid Red 1 degradation, with 45.4% of AR1 molecules degraded after 30 minutes. Reusability test indicated retention of 73.7% activity after five treatment cycles.
