Modelling transmission and control of Mycobacterium avium subspecies paratuberculosis within Irish dairy herds with compact spring calving

F. Biemans et al.

Hunters' view on the control of African swine fever in wild boar. A participatory study in Latvia

Nico Urner et al.

Summary: African swine fever (ASF) has been spreading rapidly and poses a threat to the global pig industry. Hunters in Latvia have been involved in controlling ASF and passive disease surveillance since 2014. The study evaluated hunters' acceptability of ASF control measures and explored new ways to increase their motivation to report dead wild boar. Relationships between hunters, the Food and Veterinary Service (FVS), and State Forest Service (SFS) were found to be satisfactory, with hunters supporting measures to reduce infection pressure in forests.

The feasibility and acceptability of various bovine brucellosis control strategies in India

Navneet K. Dhand et al.

Summary: Bovine brucellosis is a neglected zoonotic disease prevalent in developing countries like India. While approaches like vaccination have been successful in controlling the disease in developed countries, cultural norms in India pose challenges to the implementation of certain control strategies. This study suggests that improving biosecurity measures and implementing ancillary strategies along with vaccination could be more acceptable and feasible in controlling brucellosis in India.

What outcomes should be measured in feline chronic kidney disease treatment trials? Establishing a core outcome set for research

H. Doit et al.

Summary: This study established a Core Outcome Set (COS) for feline Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) through a systematic review and consensus methodologies with an international panel of key stakeholders. The resulting COS consisted of 29 parameters grouped into 9 core themes, covering clinical examination, quality of life, serum biochemistry, complete blood count, urinalysis, total amount of food eaten, CKD progression, survival time, and cause of death. This COS will enhance the evidence-base for feline CKD in future treatment efficacy trials by facilitating result comparison and reducing research waste.
