Low-velocity impact response of pre-stressed glass fiber/nanotube filled epoxy composite tubes

Mustafa Tasyurek et al.

Summary: This study investigates the low velocity impact behavior of pre-stressed glass fiber/epoxy (GRP) nanocomposite tubes. Carbon nanotubes (CNT) were added to the epoxy resin at different concentrations and the effects on impact response and damage mechanisms were evaluated. It was observed that adding CNT decreased the damage areas of the samples and affected the impact response of the nanocomposite tubes.

Summary: A new approach to modeling the delamination process in circular tubes made of unidirectional carbon fiber-epoxy composite was investigated numerically. This approach reduces computational cost while providing accurate predictions of damage. The suggested modeling technique offers advantages and was validated through experimental results.

The effects of harsh aging environments on the properties of neat and MWCNT reinforced epoxy resins

Abdullah Aslan et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of different harsh aging environments on the properties of neat and MWCNT reinforced epoxy resins, showing that acidic environments led to increased water absorption and decreased strength. Surprisingly, the strength of specimens aged in NaCl solution environment increased by 29%, contrary to previous literature. Additionally, MWCNT reinforcement was found to adversely affect the strength of the epoxy resin.

Effect of hydrothermal ageing on the mechanical behaviour of graphene nanoplatelets reinforced basalt fibre epoxy composite pipes

Harun Sepetcioglu et al.

Summary: This research investigates the impact of graphene nanoplatelets on the mechanical behavior of composite pipe materials under hydrothermal aging conditions. It was found that the presence of GnPs can minimize the adverse effects of water absorption on mechanical properties, thereby increasing their service life.
