Unexpected effect of magnetic nanoparticles on the performance of aqueous removal of toxic Cr(VI) using modified biopolymer chitosan

Tarek E. Khalil et al.

Summary: The modified biopolymer CTS-Nap and the magnetic biopolymer Fe3O4@CTS-Nap were synthesized for the removal of toxic chromium from aqueous solutions. Results showed that the unmodified CTS-Nap had a greater influence on wastewater treatment management than the magnetic modified chitosan Fe3O4@CTS-Nap.

Synthesis, characterization, molecular modeling and preliminary biochemical evaluation of new copper (II) mixed-ligand complexes

Mohamed Ismael et al.

Summary: Three new Cu(II) mixed-ligand complexes were synthesized, characterized, and preliminarily tested for their biochemical activities. Density functional theory calculations were performed to confirm the geometry of the complexes and evaluate electronic parameters influencing their reactivity. A structure-activity relationship formula was derived by correlating experimental data with calculated electronic parameters.

2-Hydroxynaphthalene based acylhydrazone as a turn-on fluorescent chemosensor for Al3+ detection and its real sample applications

Yucun Liu et al.

Summary: The synthesized fluorescent chemosensor showed high selectivity and sensitivity for Al3+, with a detection limit of 4.22 x 10(-8) M and a stability constant of 4.82 x 10(4) M-1. The 1:1 binding stoichiometry of the compound to Al3+ was confirmed from the Job's plot based on fluorescence titrations.
