Editing sterol side chain reductase 2 gene (StSSR2) via CRISPR/Cas9 reduces the total steroidal glycoalkaloids in potato

Zhenzhen Zheng et al.

Summary: Editing the StSSR2 gene in tetraploid cultivated potatoes using the CRISPR/Cas9 system can reduce toxic SGAs content. The study found that mutated potatoes had significantly lower levels of SGAs, with the lowest concentrations recorded in peels, tuber fleshes, and leaves of certain mutant lines.
