Gauged baryon number and dibaryonic dark matter

Ernest Ma

Summary: Research extends the minimal standard model of quarks and leptons by introducing a set of vectorlike fermions to gauge the baryon number B as a U(1)(B) symmetry. The assignments of B for the new particles are determined by their interactions with known quarks. The spontaneous breaking of U(1)(B) by a scalar with B = 3 results in a conserved residual global B symmetry, with a singlet neutral scalar with B = 2 potentially serving as a long-lived dark matter candidate.

Measurement of the Positive Muon Anomalous Magnetic Moment to 0.46 ppm

B. Abi et al.

Summary: The experiment presented the first results of the Fermilab National Accelerator Laboratory (FNAL) Muon g - 2 Experiment for the positive muon magnetic anomaly a(mu) (g(mu) - 2)/2, which determined the anomaly from precision measurements of two angular frequencies. The result showed a deviation of 3.3 standard deviations from the standard model prediction, in agreement with previous measurements, increasing the tension between experiment and theory.

Summary: The study demonstrates the connection between naturally small Dirac neutrino masses and the existence of dark matter through an anomaly-free U(1) gauge symmetry of fermion singlets.
