Dynamic Analysis of a Three-Species Food Chain System with Intra-Specific Competition

Lakshmi Narayan Guin et al.

Summary: This article examines a phase transition from stability to chaos in a three-species food chain model with Ultra-specific competition, considering functional response and intra-specific competition among predators. The existence of ecologically feasible equilibria with stability is meticulously addressed. The system's dissipativeness in ecological principles is not ruled out, and the dynamics of the system are understood through both local and global responses of the co-existence equilibrium. Hopf-bifurcation and chaos in the proposed system are notable, and the analytical results are validated through numerical simulation.

Pattern dynamics of a reaction-diffusion predator-prey system with both refuge and harvesting

Lakshmi Narayan Guin et al.

Summary: The paper investigates a reaction-diffusion predator-prey model incorporating prey refuge and harvesting, analyzing asymptotic stability and bifurcation conditions to discuss the spatiotemporal dynamics of the system. The results suggest that the cooperation of refuge and harvesting plays a crucial role in controlling spatial pattern formation of the species. Computer simulations reveal typical dynamics of population density variation within the Turing space, including isolated groups like spots, stripe-spot mixtures, and labyrinthine patterns.

Age-Structured Modeling of COVID-19 Epidemic in the USA, UAE and Algeria

Soufiane Bentout et al.

Summary: This study aims to forecast the progression of COVID-19 in different countries by considering the infection dynamics and impact on various populations. It predicts the peak time and number of infectious cases by factoring in hospitalization rates, healthcare personnel infections, and the shortage of personal protective equipment. The research also compares the effectiveness of non-pharmaceutical interventions and full lockdowns in controlling the spread of the disease.

Global Dynamics of an SEIR Model with Two Age Structures and a Nonlinear Incidence

Soufiane Bentout et al.

Summary: The paper investigates an SEIR model with infection and latency ages as well as a general class of nonlinear incidence. It presents preliminary results on existence of solutions and bounds of solutions, then delves into global dynamics. The existence of a global attractor A is proven, characterized by cases of basic reproduction number R0 less than or greater than 1, demonstrating stability and persistence properties. The approach of Lyapunov functional is employed to identify an endemic equilibrium in the case of R0>1.

Global threshold dynamics of an age structured alcoholism model

Soufiane Bentout et al.

Summary: This research examines an age-structured alcoholism model and investigates its global behavior, showing that the system exhibits threshold dynamics based on the basic reproduction number. The study finds that the alcohol-free equilibrium is globally asymptotically stable when R₀ <= 1, but a nontrivial equilibrium persists and is globally asymptotically stable when R₀ > 1. Additionally, the effects of susceptible drinkers rate and repulse rate of recovers to alcoholics are explored to provide strategies for reducing alcohol use spread. Mathematical results are numerically tested for biological relevance.

A spectral collocation method for solving fractional KdV and KdV-Burgers equations with non-singular kernel derivatives

M. M. Khader et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the spectral collocation method with the use of Chebyshev polynomials in analyzing space fractional Korteweg-de Vries and space fractional Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers equations based on the Caputo-Fabrizio fractional derivative. The proposed method simplifies the models to ordinary differential equations and solves them effectively, which is the first work studying Caputo-Fabrizio space fractional derivative for the proposed equations. The results are accurate and the method can be applied to various fractional systems.

Non-standard finite difference scheme and analysis of smoking model with reversion class

Anwar Zeb et al.

Summary: Smokers are more vulnerable to COVID-19 due to the increased likelihood of the virus being transmitted from hand to mouth through regular contact between fingers and lips during smoking. Additionally, smokers may have pre-existing lung diseases or reduced lung capacity, further increasing the risk of serious illness from COVID-19. A mathematical model was developed in this study to analyze the stability of equilibrium points related to smoking status, and numerical results were obtained using various techniques including NSFD, ODE45, and RK4 methods, with graphical representations shown through MATLAB.

Backward, Hopf bifurcation in a heroin epidemic model with treat age

Soufiane Bentout et al.

Summary: This paper investigates a heroin epidemic model with considerations on inner rivalry among drug users and the influence of treatment period for drug consumers. It is found that the model may undergo backward bifurcation leading to the possibility of two endemic equilibriums, and the existence of a Hopf bifurcation under certain conditions on the model parameters. These mathematical results are numerically confirmed.
