The study focused on using pulsed laser for paint stripping, investigating the impact of process parameters and understanding the mechanism of this technology. Through experiments and simulation calculations, it was found that the main mechanisms involved thermal combustion effect, thermal stress and thermal vibration effect, and laser plasma shock effect.
Laser stripping paint was studied with a pulsed laser in our work, which focuses on the effect of the process parameters, and on the understanding of the mechanism of this type of technology. Regarding the characterization of the stripping surface, surface morphology and surface roughness had been determined by a three-dimensional profilometer. The orthogonal optimization experiment had been carried out to optimize the process parameters. Combining experiments with simulation calculation, the laser stripping paint mechanisms were thoroughly investigated. Stripping paint with a pulsed laser is dominated by the thermal combustion effect, thermal stress and thermal vibration effect, laser plasma shock effect.
