Environmental Temperature, but Not Male Age, Affects Wolbachia and Prophage WO Thereby Modulating Cytoplasmic Incompatibility in the Parasitoid Wasp, Habrobracon Hebetor

Seyede Fatemeh Nasehi et al.

Summary: Temperature has a greater impact on the CI phenotype of Habrobracon hebetor wasps than male age, reducing CI penetrance and decreasing the expression of CI factors. CifA shows higher expression levels than CifB, and temperature affects Wolbachia and prophage WO titers as well as the expression levels of cif genes that modulate CI levels.

Generation-Dependent Functional and Numerical Responses of a Naturally Fungus-Infected Colony of Habrobracon hebetor (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) Reared on Ephestia kuehniella (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) in Iran

Fatima Badran et al.

Summary: Throughout 30 sequential generations, both infected and uninfected generations of Habrobracon hebetor showed a Type III functional response, with attack coefficient and handling time increasing from G2(inf) to G10(inf) and then decreasing in higher generations. G2(uninf) and G(inf) were identified as the best generations for practical utilization in inundative release programs.

Female-biased sex allocation and lack of inbreeding avoidance in Cubitermes termites

Veronica M. Sinotte et al.

Summary: The study found that dispersing reproductives of the termite Cubitermes tenuiceps did not actively avoid inbreeding through mate choice based on kin recognition. Most colonies exhibited a female-biased sex ratio, while none exhibited a male-bias. Sex allocation was generally female-biased, with the potential fitness effect of this strategy remaining unclear.
