Early Permian subduction-related transtension in the Turpan Basin, East Tianshan (NW China): implications for accretionary tectonics of the southern Altaids

Qigui Mao et al.

Summary: The study suggests that a large volume of early Permian volcanic rocks and intrusions in the East Tianshan may have formed in a supra-subduction zone, serving as an important record of the interaction between the Palaeo-Pacific and Palaeo-Asian Oceans.

Exhumation and Preservation of Paleozoic Porphyry Cu Deposits: Insights from the Yandong Deposit, Southern Central Asian Orogenic Belt

Lin Gong et al.

Summary: Porphyry copper deposits in the Paleozoic era are less common, but some large ones are preserved worldwide, especially in the Central Asian orogenic belt. The study of the Yandong porphyry copper deposit in the Carboniferous era reveals at least two cooling episodes and the key factors contributing to its preservation, such as tectonic quiescence and postmineralization burial. Anomalously old apatite fission track ages integrated with age-elevation relationships can provide insights for mineral exploration strategies in the Chinese Tianshan orogens.

Middle Triassic lower crust-derived adakitic magmatism: Thickening of the Dananhu intra-oceanic arc and its implications for arc-arc amalgamation in the Eastern Tianshan (NW China)

Qigui Mao et al.

Summary: Based on the geological, geochemical, and isotopic data, the mid-Triassic adakitic intrusions were likely formed by partial melting of relatively depleted thickened lower crust, different from typical slab-melting adakites. This suggests that the Kanguer branch of the Palaeo-Asian Ocean closed around 234 Ma.

Summary: The Dananhu-Haerlik arc in the Eastern Tianshan, southern Altaids, is a long-lived volcanic and intrusive arc with complex geological evolution, involving multiple stages of magmatic activity and tectonic processes.
