Electronic and optical properties of bismuth oxyhalides from ab initio calculations

M. Barhoumi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the electronic and optical properties of bismuth oxyhalides BiOXs using density functional theory, revealing different bandgap characteristics based on the halogen X. Furthermore, under the influence of an external electric field, the bandgap energy of the compounds can be easily and quickly reduced.
