Binocular vision calibration method for a long-wavelength infrared camera and a visible spectrum camera with different resolutions

Efficient vision ray calibration of multi-camera systems

Summary: Vision ray calibration provides imaging properties of cameras by identifying an independent vision ray for each sensor pixel, allowing setups of multiple cameras to be considered as one imaging device and calibrated holistically with the same algorithm. By using collinearity of reference points as the measure of accuracy, a cost function that does not require explicit calculation of vision rays is derived for improved computational efficiency. Fringe projection measurements demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach in a holistically vision ray calibrated system of two cameras, which is a novel application not found in current literature.
