The study demonstrates enhanced WGM lasing in a silica micro capillary with a liquid core containing Rhodamine B dye and silver nanoparticles. The lasing spectra can be tuned in wavelength and intensity is affected by the concentration of Ag nanoparticles. Sharp lasing spectra with low threshold were obtained for optimal AgNP concentration.
We demonstrate an enhanced WGM lasing in silica micro capillary with a liquid core made of Rhodamine B dye and silver nanoparticles (AgNP) combination. It is found that the lasing spectra can be tuned in wavelength as well as enhanced or quenched in intensity. Highly modulated sharp lasing spectra with FWHM 0.152 nm were obtained for an optimum concentration of Ag nanoparticles. A low lasing threshold of 460 mu J was also achieved in our experiments. The quantum yield of the samples was also measured to understand the effect of AgNP concentrations on dye emission. A brief theoretical analysis is carried out to analyze the possible reasons of the effects observed.
