Perceived racial discrimination in the workplace: considering minority supervisory representation and inter-minority relations

Hongseok Lee

Summary: This study explores the impact of increased supervisory representation by certain racial minority groups in U.S. federal agencies on perceived racial discrimination by nonsupervisory employees of different racial groups in personnel practices. White nonsupervisory employees are found to perceive more racial discrimination as the percentage of racial minority supervisors, regardless of race, increases. The study suggests further research and practices that consider inter-minority relations as well as minority-majority relations.

Addressing Structural Racism Through Constitutional Transformation and Decolonization: Insights for the New Zealand Health Sector

Heather Came et al.

Summary: In 2013, the New Zealand government initiated national conversations about constitutional arrangements in Aotearoa, following Maori leadership's comprehensive engagement process and report in 2010 outlining a collective Maori vision of a written constitution congruent with te Tiriti o Waitangi by 2040. The Matike Mai Aotearoa report suggests alternative structural formations focused on governance, relational dynamics, and sovereignty to address structural racism within the health system. It emphasizes Indigenous ethical values such as protocol, belonging, and balance as key principles to inform the redesign of the health sector.
