The RBF partition of unity method for solving the Klein-Gordon equation

Mohammadreza Ahmadi Darani

Summary: This paper applies a localized radial basis function (RBF) method to obtain a global approximation of the solution of the two dimensional Klein-Gordon equation on a given bounded domain. The RBF partition of unity (RBF-PU) method is used, which partitions the original domain into several patches and uses RBF approximation on each local domain. Numerical experiments demonstrate that the problem can be successfully solved with reasonable accuracy using this method, with advantages of low computational cost and well conditioned final linear system compared to global RBF techniques.

Numerical investigation of three-dimensional nanofluid flow with heat and mass transfer on a nonlinearly stretching sheet using the barycentric functions

Soraya Torkaman et al.

Summary: This paper investigates a three-dimensional boundary layer flow with heat and mass transfer on a nonlinearly stretching sheet using a novel operational-matrix-based method. The results illustrate the effect of various parameters on the flow properties, and comparison with other numerical methods and previous results confirms the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed method. The proposed method is discussed to convert governing equations into algebraic equations without using any collocation points, showing the benefit of this approach.

THE DIRECT RADIAL BASIS FUNCTION PARTITION OF UNITY (D-RBF-PU) METHOD FOR SOLVING PDEs

Davoud Mirzaei

Summary: This paper proposes a new localized radial basis function method based on partition of unity for solving boundary and initial-boundary value problems. The new method, called the direct RBF partition of unity (D-RBF-PU) method, is faster and simpler than the standard RBF-PU method by avoiding derivatives of PU weight functions and lower derivatives of local approximants. Additionally, the method is more efficient and less expensive with the use of discontinuous PU weight functions, and numerical experiments on irregular domains support the efficiency of the new method.

A radial basis function finite difference (RBF-FD) method for numerical simulation of interaction of high and low frequency waves: Zakharov-Rubenchik equations

Omer Oruc

Summary: This study investigates numerical solutions of the Zakharov-Rubenchik system using a radial basis function finite difference (RBF-FD) meshless method and an explicit Runge-Kutta method. By employing polyharmonic spline as the radial basis function, the proposed method achieves accurate and stable results with reduced computational cost. The approximation of differential operators on local-support domain leads to sparse differentiation matrices, enhancing the efficiency of the method in solving coupled nonlinear partial differential equations.

Summary: The reduced differential transform method (RDTM) is used to solve two-dimensional nonlinear sine-Gordon equations with appropriate initial conditions, generating analytical approximate or exact solutions in a convergent power series form. The method considers the use of appropriate initial conditions without discretization, transformation, or restrictive assumptions. The accuracy and efficiency of the method are demonstrated by test problems, indicating promise for solving other types of nonlinear partial differential equations in science and engineering.

Summary: This article develops numerical algorithms for solving multidimensional sine-Gordon (SG) equation using barycentric rational interpolation and local radial basis functions. The algorithms involve semi-discretization in time, analysis of truncation errors and convergence, full discretization using two different functions, and solving a linear system with MATLAB routine. Numerical experiments include 1D and 2D SG equations with examples of line and ring solitons, along with a comparative study of results with existing numerical solutions and exact solutions.
