Occurrence, resistance factors and cross-resistance patterns to herbicides inhibiting acetolactate synthase (ALS) of Echinochloa crus-galli (L.) Pal. Beauv. in Central Europe

Summary: Echinochloa crus-galli has evolved target-site resistance to ALS-inhibiting herbicides, with multiple point mutations conferring resistance independently occurring at several positions in the ALS gene. The study found that a single mutation in at least one ALS gene copy was enough to confer resistance at certain positions, providing insight into the resistance mechanisms in polyploid E. crus-galli.
