Deep-learning-based high-resolution recognition of fractional-spatial-mode-encoded data for free-space optical communications

Youngbin Na et al.

Summary: This study proposes an efficient data transmission system that achieves higher data rates using fractional mode encoding and deep-learning decoding. By representing symbols using spatial modes and decoding efficiently with a deep-learning algorithm, the system successfully achieves image transmission while recognizing two independent degrees of freedom simultaneously.

Creation and control of high-dimensional multi-partite classically entangled light

Yijie Shen et al.

Summary: This research demonstrates the creation and full control of vectorially structured light in eight dimensions, controlling a complete set of classical Greenberger-Horne-Zeilinger (GHZ) states for the first time. It also introduces a new tomography method to verify the fidelity of these states, opening up new pathways for extending the dimensionality and degrees of freedom of vectorially structured light in both classical and quantum regimes.

Spin-decoupled metasurface for simultaneous detection of spin and orbital angular momenta via momentum transformation

Yinghui Guo et al.

Summary: This research utilized the inherent orthogonality of spin angular momentum and orbital angular momentum of photons to expand the dimensions of quantum information. A method for vortex recognition through a single-shot measurement was proposed, along with spin-controlled dual-functional photonic momentum transformations for sorting SAM and OAM simultaneously. The experimental results demonstrated good agreement with numerical modeling and showed potential for developing integrated and high-dimensional optical and quantum systems.

Experimental analysis of adaptive optics correction methods on the beam carrying orbital angular momentum mode through oceanic turbulence

Haichao Zhan et al.

Summary: This study experimentally demonstrated the influence of distortion caused by oceanic turbulence on adaptive optics correction algorithms, including Shack-Hartmann, Stochastic-Parallel-Gradient-Descent, and Gerchberg-Saxton algorithms. The results showed that all three algorithms had good compensation effects on the distortions caused by oceanic turbulence, with Gerchberg-Saxton algorithm performing better than the other two algorithms.
