Structural Defects Modulate Electronic and Nanomechanical Properties of 2D Materials

Manoj Tripathi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the influence of different geometries of line defects in graphene and molybdenum disulfide using atomic force microscopy and Raman spectroscopic mapping. The stiffness of graphene was found to be higher than molybdenum disulfide, with deflated graphene nanobubbles exhibiting the lowest stiffness. Density functional theory reveals alteration of bandstructures in graphene and MoS2 due to wrinkled structures, showing a higher modulation effect in MoS2.

Batch production of uniform graphene films via controlling gas-phase dynamics in confined space

Yongna Zhang et al.

Summary: The study proposes a method for batch production of uniform graphene films by controlling the distribution of gaseous carbon source, demonstrating high uniformity in graphene films grown inside a rectangular channel structure. The placement of substrates greatly affects the gas-phase dynamics near the substrate surface and the growth process of graphene, showing the potential to prepare uniform large-scale graphene films in batches by adjusting the distribution of gas-phase dynamics.

Synthesis of Large-Area Single-Crystal Graphene

Meihui Wang et al.

Summary: Breakthroughs have been made in the mass production of graphene using CVD, with recent progress in growing large-area single crystal graphene. Challenges remain in achieving uniform bilayer or multilayer graphene single crystals over a large area, but the layer-by-layer transfer method shows promise for creating new types of crystals with specific layer numbers and stacking angles.
