Single Small Molecule-Assembled Mitochondria Targeting Nanofibers for Enhanced Photodynamic Cancer Therapy In Vivo

Kai Lin et al.

Summary: PQC NFs, composed of mitochondria-targeting small molecules with amphiphilicity, generate a significantly higher amount of reactive oxygen species in cells and induce intense apoptosis through mitochondrial disruption. These fiber-shaped nanomaterials also show long-term retention in tumor sites, achieving a 100% complete cure rate in cancer models with a single dose administration. This type of mitochondria-targeting nanofibers offers a promising strategy to enhance the therapeutic effects of conventional PDT in vivo.

A novel selective mitochondrial-targeted curcumin analog with remarkable cytotoxicity in glioma cells

Lei Shi et al.

Summary: A mitochondria-targeted compound DMC-TPP was prepared to enhance bioavailability and treatment efficacy, showing higher cytotoxicity and mitochondria accumulation ability in vitro. DMC-TPP triggered mitochondria-dependent apoptosis and efficiently inhibited cellular thioredoxin reductase, leading to delayed tumor progression in a mouse xenograft model of human glioma cancer.

Enhanced performance of gelatin 5-fluorouracil-containing nanoparticles against squamous cell carcinoma in simulated chronic wounds conditions

Albert Ferriol et al.

Summary: Chronic wounds can lead to squamous cell carcinoma, and the pH value of the wound environment affects biochemical reactions in the healing process. Gelatin-based NPs show promise for treating SCC and exhibit potential biocompatibility and selective toxicity in in vitro experiments.

Bilayer dissolving microneedle array containing 5-fluorouracil and triamcinolone with biphasic release profile for hypertrophic scar therapy

Beibei Yang et al.

Summary: This study developed a bilayer dissolving microneedle (BMN) containing both TA and 5-Fu for the treatment of hypertrophic scars (HS). Through in vitro and in vivo studies as well as the rabbit ear HS model experiment, it was found that TA-5-Fu-BMN significantly reduced abnormal fibroblast proliferation and collagen fiber deposition in scar tissue.
