Developing molecular-level models for organic field-effect transistors

Haoyuan Li et al.

Summary: Organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) are functional devices and also serve as important tools for measuring the charge-transport properties of organic semiconductors (OSs). Understanding the performance and characteristics of OFET devices is crucial for achieving higher device efficiencies and ensuring accuracy in the evaluations of OS charge mobilities. Developed OFET models require good knowledge of charge-transport processes in OSs at a nano-scale, molecular-level resolution.

Supramolecularly Engineered J-Aggregates Based on Perylene Bisimide Dyes

Markus Hecht et al.

Summary: The discovery of the self-assembly of cyanine dyes into J-aggregates had a significant impact on dye chemistry, leading to the emergence of new useful properties. Despite a good theoretical understanding of their structure-property relationships, examples of J-aggregates remained scarce due to the lack of supramolecular designs to guide their formation. The use of nature's supramolecular blueprint in the development of J-aggregates of perylene bisimides (PBIs) has shown promise in various applications, such as high-performance color pigments and organic semiconductors.

Non-Local Electron-Phonon Interaction in Naphthalene Diimide Derivatives, its Experimental Probe and Impact on Charge-Carrier Mobility

Mikhail V. Vener et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the role of low-frequency (LF) vibrational modes in modulating charge transfer integrals in high-mobility organic semiconductor crystals. By analyzing the effect of dynamic disorder on charge carrier dynamics, the importance of LF modes in limiting charge carrier mobility is justified. LF Raman spectroscopy is proposed as a useful tool for experimental study of non-local electron-phonon interaction (NLEPI), which can aid in the screening and rational design of organic semiconductors with high charge-carrier mobility.
