Duarte Rente et al.

Summary: The study focused on the extraction of phenolic compounds from different natural sources using deep eutectic systems (DESs) as a greener alternative to common organic solvents. The addition of water to these systems was found to affect their physicochemical properties, and the nature of the hydrogen bond donor (HBD) played a critical role in the extraction of phenolic compounds. Differences between DES systems and the impact of carbon chain length, hydroxyl, methyl, and carbonyl groups on the extraction of phenolic compounds were highlighted.
