Incidence, mortality, and cardiovascular diseases in pituitary adenoma in Korea: a nationwide population-based study

Jae Sang Oh et al.

Summary: This South Korean study evaluated the incidence of different PA subtypes, cardiovascular disease (CVD), and related mortality. Results showed higher mortality rates for non-functioning pituitary adenoma and adrenocorticotropic or thyroid-stimulating hormone-secreting pituitary adenoma, while patients with growth hormone-secreting pituitary adenoma and prolactinoma had higher risks of cardiovascular disease.

Genomics and Epigenomics of Pituitary Tumors: What Do Pathologists Need to Know?

Sylvia L. Asa et al.

Summary: Molecular pathology has advanced our understanding of tumors, particularly in pituitary and craniopharyngioma where genetic mutations have been identified. However, these mutations have limited impact on treatment strategies. Epigenetic changes play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of sporadic pituitary neoplasms.

Multiple Endocrine Tumors Associated with Germline MAX Mutations: Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 5?

Amanda J. Seabrook et al.

Summary: Pathogenic germline MAX variants are associated with multiple tumors including pheochromocytoma, ganglioneuroma, neuroblastoma, and pituitary neuroendocrine tumors. Clinical, genetic, immunohistochemical, and functional studies on affected families confirmed the associations. Immunohistochemistry and functional studies provided additional evidence for the roles of MAX variants in tumor development.
