Simple carbon fiber graphitization device for in-situ measurement of small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS)

Peng Xiao et al.

Summary: A small and simple device was developed for in-situ small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) measurement of carbon fibers graphitization by direct electrical heating. The results showed needle-shaped voids oriented preferentially along the fibers axis with a surface fractal structure during the graphitization process. The change in fractal dimension as a function of temperature exhibited a dip with a minimum value at around 1700 degrees Celsius.
