Shelly-Anne Li et al.

Summary: This study examines how the context of the emergency department shapes the ways in which emergency physicians balance their roles in patient care and clinical supervision. The research found that contextual features such as trainee competence and patient complexity influence the salience of different roles of emergency physicians at any given time, leading to the conceptualization of a model describing the prominent roles of teacher, assessor, and patient protector in the ED.
