A method for simultaneously crosslinking and functionalizing extracellular matrix-based biomaterials as bioprosthetic heart valves with enhanced endothelialization and reduced inflammation

Gaoyang Guo et al.

Summary: The study used in-situ polymerization of sulfonic monomers with decellularized extracellular matrix (ECM) for crosslinking and functionalization, providing a potential material for more durable bioprosthetic heart valves. In vitro tests showed promotion of endothelial cell proliferation and migration, while in vivo tests significantly reduced immune response and calcification.
