The microstructure of homogenized Al-Cu-Li alloy is significantly influenced by cooling rates, leading to different phase compositions in air-cooled and furnace cooled samples.
The microstructure of homogenized Al-Cu-Li alloy is greatly affected by cooling rates. The air-cooled sample is dominated by high temperature precipitated T (Al20Cu2Mn3) phase and beta' (Al3Zr) phase, accompanied by naturally aged delta' (Al3Li) phase. But for the furnace cooled sample, except for the T phase and delta'/beta' phase, the predominant phases are numerous micrometer-scale T-1 (Al2CuLi) phase and some of 0' (Al2Cu) liked phase.
