The Z-scheme mechanism facilitated efficient charge transfer between AMO and BCN, leading to improved visible light absorption and high formation rate of hydroxyl radicals (·OH), enhancing the photocatalytic performance.
A Z-scheme rod-like Ag2Mo2O7/g-C3N4 (AMO/BCN) was synthesized via a simple hydrothermal method. The physicochemical and optical properties of prepared catalysts were characterized by field emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, UV-vis absorption spectroscopy, photoluminescence and photocurrent response analyses. Morphology analysis showed that the surface of BCN was decorated by rod-like structure of AMO. Compared to BCN catalyst, AMO/BCN exhibited intensive visible light absorption and high separation rate of charge carriers. The photocatalytic assessment revealed 20 wt% AMO/BCN exhibited higher photodegradation of phenol compared to other samples. The enhanced photocatalytic performance was ascribed to the efficient charge transfer through a Z-scheme mechanism of rod-like AMO and BCN, improved visible light absorption, and high formation of hydroxyl radicals (center dot OH).
