Effect of second-phase particles on the oxidation behaviour of a high-manganese austenitic heat-resistant steel

T. L. Liu et al.

Summary: The presence of second-phase particles in high-manganese austenitic heat-resistant steel can significantly improve oxidation and spallation resistances through several related mechanisms, including preventing stratified growth of the oxide scale, pinning effect of the oxide scale, and reducing the critical chromium concentration for stable protective layer formation.
