Mercury in the tissues of five cephalopods species: First data on the nervous system

Antoine Minet et al.

Summary: This study investigated Hg concentrations within 81 cephalopod specimens sampled in the Bay of Biscay, finding that the digestive gland and mantle muscle had the highest Hg concentrations, and different species showed interspecific differences in brain Hg concentrations. The research also revealed that Hg in cephalopods is mainly organic and distributed to different tissues via bloodstream.
